Meet the Team: Scott Pratt, Head of Value Recovery

In our Meet the Team series, we introduce the people behind Vortex Circular Solutions. First up: the person who leads the function at the very heart of what we do.

Ask what makes Vortex different, and it comes back to one idea: recovery before recycling. Most technology reaching the end of its life still holds real value — the job is to unlock it. The person leading that work is Scott Pratt, our Head of Value Recovery.

It's arguably the function that best captures what Vortex is about. It's the difference between treating redundant technology as a disposal problem and treating it as an opportunity — and it's the reason our customers recover value they'd otherwise write off.

A career spanning commercial and value recovery

Scott brings over 15 years of experience across enterprise sales, account management, IT lifecycle solutions and value recovery.

His career has seen him work with major organisations across the technology sector, progressing from bid support and enterprise sales into senior commercial and management positions — including Enterprise Manager for EMEA. It's a background that combines commercial expertise at scale with a deep understanding of the IT lifecycle: a rare and valuable combination in this field.

From The Royal Mint to Vortex

One part of Scott's background stands out as a natural fit for the role he now leads.

Before joining Vortex, Scott spent over two years as Head of Value Recovery at The Royal Mint — one of the most recognisable names in the responsible recovery of end-of-life assets. There, he developed extensive experience in the recovery and responsible management of assets at the end of their life, and a strong understanding of how organisations can maximise the financial value of surplus and redundant equipment while supporting their environmental and sustainability objectives.

That dual focus — financial return and environmental responsibility, pursued together rather than traded off — is precisely the thinking at the core of Vortex.

What Scott does at Vortex

Scott leads our Value Recovery function, working closely with manufacturers, retailers, distributors and enterprise customers to develop commercially successful recovery strategies.

His focus is on identifying opportunities to maximise returns through refurbishment, resale, remanufacturing, reuse and responsible recycling — while building the kind of long-term customer and partner relationships that make those strategies work over time. In practice, that means helping customers see redundant assets not as a cost to be managed, but as value waiting to be released.

In his own words

What stands out about Scott is his genuine enthusiasm for the work. He's passionate about helping businesses unlock greater value from their assets, combining commercial know-how with practical circular-economy solutions that deliver both financial and environmental benefits.

That balance — commercial and environmental value, delivered together — is exactly what we care about most. And it's what our customers get the benefit of when they work with Scott and the Value Recovery team.
